Over the past week I had the opportunity to jet set to sunny Palm Springs, California. Not only was I anxious to catch up on my lack of Vitamin D, but downtown Palm Springs is currently hosting Modernism Week that runs through February 21st.
Modernism Week highlighted my favorite aspect of Palm Springs, the abundance of Mid Century furniture, lighting, and home accessories that are so a la Kelly Wearstler. For a Mid Century junkie like myself, Palm Springs is truly the mecca that will suffice anyone's interior design appetite.
North Palm Canyon Road is home to over a dozen boutiques that carry an abundance of Arc Lamps, perfectly preserved vintage patio furniture, and Lucite tables galore. Among these shops Trina Turk Residential, 20 First, and Dazzles shined high!
The absolute highlight though was my visit to the Parker Palm Springs Hotel. With help from interior designer Jonathan Adler, the Parker is the perfect balance of Marrakesh meets Mid Century Modern. The Parker revisits the vibe of Palm Springs in the 1960's and somehow turns it into hippie chic, making it the perfect weekend destination for carefree cocktails and sunbathing.
