Interesting article tidbits: Ed Benguiat thought that the only way Avant Garde looked good was in the 'Avant Garde' logo itself. Most people lean the letterforms the wrong way; Others thought the font had way too many ligatures and most designers didn't or do not know how to apply them correctly; When the typeface went digital, they only chose the text version of the face, picking the most uninteresting parts of the typeface itself.
