I'm a fan of these New Balance shoes. It takes something iconic and brings it into a modern world with a new application called sonic welding. Widely used for technical clothing, tents and industrial fabrics, this type of manufacturing is a friend to the environment, cutting out the steps of major sewing or gluing. The combination of heat and pressure fuse the seams of pattern together, eliminating waste and helps the shoe become more air and watertight. It seems to be the first brand to utilize this technology for shoes, nice job! I can't wait to see more of this process used in future shoe designs. A New Balance Press Release can be found here.
