Miniature Masterpieces

Written by Pete Wright

I recently was introduced to the art of Dalton Ghetti, who has been doing some astounding work at near-microscopic size. To be honest, I have never seen anything like these tiny sculptures. The detail is immaculate, and it's hard to fathom how achieving it is even possible.

Dalton says he began by carving friends names into pencils in school and giving them away as presents. Later he began working on larger wood sculptures, and decided to challenge himself by taking these detailed sculptures and creating them in a tiny form; this eventually led to his self-described "eureka!" moment of carving into the graphite. The primary tools he uses are limited to just three: a razorblade, sewing needle, and carving knife. Surprisingly, he does not use a magnifying glass for his sculptures, which just adds to the delight of these tiny pieces of art. Check more of them out here.
