Every once and awhile it's a good thing to judge a book by it's cover. Such is the case with this book, Let's Bring Back , written by Lesley M.M. Blume. The whole books is comprised of a (somewhat extensive) collection of interactions, foods, items, words, etc. which have been lost somewhere along the lines of history. These could be old recipes, or common phrases that have lost their popularity amongst the languages and even simple etiquette. Many are humorous, while several have merit. What's really interesting is to learn more about different periods in society, the little tidbits that we don't pay much attention to.

There are a couple standouts, starting with Duels! While funny, the author backs up her claim with reasoning – often tongue-in-cheek. Duels for example, is explained "Because litigation is so cost-prohibitive, and takes too long as well." Another interesting one is Handheld Fans: alongside a brief history of them in the English culture is a list of different gestures and their meanings. Who knew!?

Okay, so a lot of them are just for fun, but you'll enjoy reading it and learn something too. Then there is one of the most important things people like us look for; a great design, and this book definitely has it. Great victorian embellishments adorn each page, and a healthy dose of awesome two-color illustrations/etchings/paintings are sprinkled throughout.

I definitely suggest picking this book up; a great find!
