The Seattle summer is here! I think…Whenever you see the first brave sole shirtless, laying out at Cal Anderson on a 57 degree day you know summer has arrived. Why does laying down, half-dressed, around a bunch of strangers feel so fabulous? Massimo Vitali seems to get it. His photographs are overwhelming. Completely breathtaking. Not just a landscape, but a testimony of culture and curiosity. His work demands your attention and evokes a voyeuristic sense of nostalgia, as if you have stumbled across someone’s family vacation photos. The contrast of the stark natural environment mixed with the density of people provides a truly magical experience. He is working on some really interesting projects that deserve a look full screen. So for now, we Seattlites can soak up some sunshine from his work and hope that the clouds will stay tucked away and our 60 degree sun keep shining.
