The adventures of a Summer Intern, Week 1 and 2

Written by UI-Staff

I am at the end of my second week of my Summer Internship here at Urban Influence, which was my top design studio to intern at. I am a huge fan of their work and philosophy so I am super excited to have the opportunity to be here.  So far it has been everything that I thought it would be and more, all of my expectations have been surpassed which is an awesome feeling.

I am fresh out of college and have had little experience in the professional world, so needless to say the past two weeks have been quite the experience.  I have been schooled in programs that I thought I knew relatively well, like Illustrator. I never realized the copious amount of hot keys and shortcuts there are, we were expected to learn a lot of these things on our own in my program.  Feeling like a total amateur, I have tried to absorb as much as I can from my co workers and contribute something decent for critique. Fortunately everyone has been extremely patient with me which definitely makes it a great learning environment.
I am from Tacoma and have not had the opportunity to explore Seattle much so I am excited to immerse myself in the culture here and start a new chapter. This weekend is the Capitol Hill Block Party and I have never been before so it will be a way to get to know Seattle.
