Meet the Lytro Light Field Camera

Written by Pete Wright

Lytro_01Conventional DSLR cameras capture light on a single plane, which makes for some amazing photography, but that’s not the most advanced way of taking shots anymore. Enter the Lytro Camera, which captures the entire field of light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space.

Capture living pictures with the press of a single button–focus photos after you’ve taken them. What?! That’s insane. You can also refocus your photos at anytime, so no more auto-focus motor. No shutter delay, hopefully cutting down on the number of times your uncle has his eyes shut in a photo.

It features an 8x optical zoom lens with a constant f/2 aperture, anaodized aluminum skin, weighs less than 8 ounces–all about the size of a small pencil case.
