The Nike+ FuelBand Experience

Why are things so heavy in the future?

Written by Pete Wright

So I bought this Nike FuelBand a little less than a week ago and so good so far. It feels like you’re the star of your own video game.

You can achieve new goals, crush previous day totals, continue streaks, receive trophies—it’s all been very motivational. You can also compete with friends that are part of Nike+.

It kinda feels like I’m wearing a piece of the future.

The band itself is stylish and comfortable. I have the black ice version and I love how I can see the machinery inside. The band interface is simple and clean; it features a nice screen comprised of 100 LED dots There is also a 20 dot progress bar below the main screen that serves as the fuel meter. It kinda feels like I’m wearing a little piece of the future. The iPhone app interface is great as well and extends the whole experience nicely. Everything is summed up well and shows you which part(s) of the day you were most active. The info is split up really well—I never knew I took that many steps or covered so much ground in one day. The battery lasts about three days and charges up quickly. The band also functions as a watch—a nice plus.

Overall, I’m really pleased with it so far; but it would be outstanding if it was swim-proof and monitored your heart rate. Well done, Nike, well done.
