We just keep on growing!

This week, I am excited to introduce you to another new member of our team: Kate Stull, our copywriter and content strategist. She’s been with us already for a couple of months, so it’s high time you got to know her too!

Here is a little bit about Kate in her own words:

Where are you from?

Originally I’m from Peoria, Illinois but these days I live in the middle of nowhere in north Humboldt County, CA. Seriously the middle of nowhere — we’re not even on Google Maps.

Where have you worked in the past and what did you do?

Before Urban Influence, I was cofounder and communications person at Popforms, a startup helping people be more amazing at their jobs. I managed our blog, wrote our email newsletter, wrote and tested copy for our products, and basically wrote any of the words you saw when you interacted with our brand!

And before that, I was a freelance writer helping tech executives turn their complicated, technical ideas into approachable, dare-I-say fun content for blogs, videos, and news sites.

What do you love most about being a copywriter?

Okay, so there’s a really specific moment that I love so much. It’s when I can help a client bridge the gap between a really complicated idea and a perfect, streamlined piece of copy.

I love making things make sense. I love being able to hear a client explain a million different ideas and then help them tie them all together in a way that feels impossibly simple and clear.

It feels like a secret superpower. Great content, if it’s really great, is so seamless and helpful and inspiring that you don’t even notice that it’s working on you. It feels inevitable. So I love helping brands make the leap from their rough idea to a finished website that is so intuitive to their users that they just innately love the experience of being with the brand.

What’s your favorite food?

Isn’t everyone’s favorite food pizza? A close second for me would be a really, really good croissant. Or a veggie burrito.

What do you like to do on the weekends?

I try to never be on the computer on the weekends. I like to go on hikes with my fiance, and have long (like, hours and hours) conversations with my girlfriends over snacks and coffee at my house.

Favorite vacation you ever took and why?

My fiance and I drove and camped our way up the California coast last spring. That was pretty awesome.

If you could have a superpower what would it be?

The ability to speed up or slow down time. I always wish I could speed up things like long flights, and slow down times when I wish I could think more before I speak. 🙂
