A Peek Inside

Ryan Cory: Video dude and White Russian enthusiast.

Written by The Pigeon

It’s 2016 and we are not only super excited about another year of badassery, but some new additions to the nest as well.

We have done a few projects with Ryan over the last year and loved him so much, we decided to tape him to the desk and never let him leave. Whether he is pissing off bears, or creating sweet video stuffs, get ready for a whole new perspective on Urban Influence. We managed to sneak in a few ‘get to know you’ questions by bribing him in with a White Russian and a sandwich. Enjoy.

Where are you from?

Washington State’s best kept secret: Marysville, WA

What’s your favorite food?

Whiskey.

What do you like to do on the weekends?

Breakfast. All day. Everyday.
Record store visits, pet shelters, and dance parties.
I often require ham & cheese . . .

Where have you worked in the past and what did you do?

I come from a long line of hard working, blue collar rough-necks, and a few neurosurgeons. These are tough men and strong women with brilliant minds that have paved a bright path for future generations.*

*I think I screwed that up somewhere between 1999 and 2004.
I’ve worked in restaurants, warehouses, national parks, established production firms and mom-and-pop startups. Lest we forget the occasional space-camp, and once, even a high end glass/rock-chip repair establishment.

Making Mom and Dad proud.(PS: Can I borrow $20 for the movies?)

What do you love most about being a Video Director?

Crafting scenarios, dialogue, and characters in worlds that work together as ideas that would have otherwise never existed. I favor a slightly bizarre approach. A man much wiser than myself once said, “If an idea is not absurd—there is no hope for it.”

Favorite vacation you ever took and why?

I drove a loop around the country from Seattle. Stays included a couple days hiking the Grand Canyon, a swing through Vegas, and a solid stay in Santa Barbara with friends.

There was adventure.
There was fire.
There was danger.*
It was incredible.

*My sincere apologies to that park ranger. I had no idea that bears dislike super soakers.

If you could have a super power what would it be?

This might sound cliche, but it’s an easy one to answer: ice-block feet.
Ice-Block Feet is when you run as fast as you can, and once you reach a certain speed, your feet no longer run but “glide” down the street. It comes in handy when you’re in a rush, however, once you slow back down, your feet return to their natural form – and running must come back into play.

BUT RYAN: The downside to having your feet back, is you don’t know when this transformation will happen. This subjects you to falling flat on our face in public at great speeds. Not a good look.

True. They are still working the kinks out on this super power.

I know what you’re thinking: “This guy’s got his priorities straight when it comes to legit super powers.”

To that I say, “Thank you — you’d be correct.”
