A Peek Inside

Welcome David Drury

Strategic Copywriter, Rolling Donut, Injured Squirrel

Written by Pete Wright

We are happy to introduce you to David Drury, our new Strategic Copywriter.

He decided to take off all his disguises and get up from the blackjack table to join us in our coop. Or did he just get kicked out of every casino and this was his fallback??

Where are you from?

Mount Pinatubo, Mount St. Helens, and the San Andreas Fault. Natural tragedies have seemed to follow my every move. Luckily, I now live near the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

What’s your favorite food?

Let me rephrase the question: What is your favorite time of day? Answer: Cereal O’Clock. Cereal O’Clock (which usually involves Cinnamon Life, Granola, and milk) happens sometime after dinner and before bedtime, in the flickering glow of whatever Netflix feels like divulging to me.

What do you like to do on the weekends?

I write extremely short stories from midnight to 3 AM, usually about fires, and people and tumbleweeds with bad habits. Before midnight I watch haunted house movies, French films from the 1960s, and The Brady Bunch. Before watching things I reflect on my disgust for reverse chronologies.

Where have you worked in the past and what did you do?

I have engaged in scribbling and editorial snippery at community newspapers and trade publications up and down the west coast. I counted cards for six years on an organized gambling team, for which I won more than I lost and got thrown out of a lot of casinos in the process.

What do you love most about being a Copywriter?

Having an excuse to read the Thesaurus.

Favorite vacation you ever took and why?

Tokyo, Japan. It was a working vacation, which in my opinion is the best kind. Everything is paid for and you have sufficient distractions of duty which keep you from falling into gluttony and slovenliness. I played a performing role in a rock and roll road trip movie called Big in Japan. Scarlett Johansson was not in the movie. I was in the movie. No one saw the movie.

If you could have a super power what would it be?

Reading the thoughts of married couples at Applebee’s on a Tuesday.
